Homework

ReadingEach night your child will bring home a new reader to read with you.  This is a time for you to read and enjoy your time together.  If time is a pressure for you take turns reading a page each!  Please remember to fill in your child's yellow home reader book.  These comments are very useful especially letting me know the good points and the points to work on that your child found difficult at home. I read these at every reading session.

Rocket WordsYour child has a Spelling Rocket list in a book which they will bring home each night.  This activity will help your child to recognise and read words they will come across in the first years at school in their reading books and at story writing.  After your child has read all 10 lists they start back at list 1 and spell the words.  I will test them at school and highlight the words when they know them.

WeekendReading on a Friday is Poetry.  All week the children have read a poem that corresponds to our letter of the week.  They then get to bring this home to enjoy with you.
Alphabet books are also sent home on a Friday.  Over the weekend you and your child can have some fun focusing on the letter of the week we have just been learning about.  One page is for pictures and words about the letter and the other page will have a photocopied activity.  Please try to return these by Monday for marking or by Thursday morning at the latest ready for the next letter.
